LMH Today

Lay Mission-Helpers Association is an independent, Catholic not for profit organization (501c3). It is overseen by a Board of Directors made up of former lay missionaries, religious, and other individuals with specific professional skills.

Program Director Janice England was a Lay Mission-Helper in Sierra Leone from 1989-1993. Ms. England is responsible for the recruitment, training and support of the lay missionaries. She communicates with the mission sites and bishops regarding their particular need for lay missionaries, and makes annual visitations to LMH in the field.

Continuing the undertaking envisioned by our founder, Msgr. Brouwers, Lay Mission-Helpers work in mission dioceses at the request of local bishops and religious organizations, serving in professional capacities while witnessing their faith. The main areas of need are in education and healthcare. Although the countries where LMH serve have changed over the years, requests for Lay Mission-Helpers — for qualified, dedicated and well-prepared lay missionaries — remain constant.
